From Michigan Ave going east to the lake in downtown Chicago is the unceded land of the Potowatomi, Ojibway, and Odawa nations, this is where the Art Institute of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago reside.

Drum Circle is a reminder to the land the Native communities in Chicago are still considering and caring for it. Native drum making is a traditional art passed down from generation to generation and the Native drum is used in many ceremonies throughout different tribes. Traditional drums are made from animal hides wrapped and tied around a wooden frame and are either played with sticks or just with the drummer's hands. Through Van Dyke Brown printing the drums have images of the unceded land imprinted on them.
